Lorraine Thelma Mills
January 16, 1935 – October 27, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lorraine Thelma Mills, 87 years, formerly from Spalding, SK, on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Humboldt District Hospital in Humboldt, SK. Lorraine was born on January 16, 1935 on the Otsig Family Farm, 4 miles NE of Leroy, SK. to George and Mary Otsig. She grew up in the area and attended Nadika Country School. From there she moved to Spalding where she worked at Con’s Café and became very fond of a friendly young man named Stewart Mills. On October 27, 1954, Lorraine and Stewart were married at the Grace United Church in Leroy. They lived and worked on the Mills family farm (Stewart’s parents) where they were blessed with a family of six children. Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning, curling, dancing, playing cards, tending to her flowers and visiting. She loved life on the farm, raising cows, chickens and pigs as well as grain farming and often said there was no place she’d rather raise her children. She had such a kind and generous heart and welcomed everyone that came to her door. The tea kettle was always on and you never left hungry. After Stewarts passing in 2007, Lorraine remained on the farm until 2011 when she moved into Spalding. In 2014 she moved into the Churchview Lodge in Naicam, where she made many great friends that felt like family. In 2021 mom continued her journey and made Quill Plains Lodge in Watson her new home. She passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 in the Humboldt Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her 5 remaining children: Karen (Garry) Ulrich of Engelfeld, SK, Larry Mills of Calgary, AB, Curtis (Shelley) Mills of Spalding SK, Carol (Craig) Cann of Sylvan Lake, AB, and Corrine (Ed) Petit of Martensville, SK, 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister: Leila (Vic) Olson of Spalding, SK, brothers: Clarence Otsig of Naicam, SK, Howard Otsig of Fort Nelson, BC and Leonard (Elaine) Otsig of Leroy, SK and numerous nieces and nephews.
