It’s been a few years since the beloved children’s performing group has rolled through Humboldt on its fall schedule, but Missoula Children's Theatre returns to Humboldt. The group invites local youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to audition to participate. Those auditions will be held at the Humboldt Public School Gym on Monday, September 12 at 4:00 pm.

This year’s performance is The Little Mermaid, the Children’s Theatre spin on the beloved aquatic tale. The show follows the adventures of Celia, a music-loving denizen of Sassafras Sea. When the mermaid and her three sisters ascend to the World Above, they encounter dragons, advancing armies, and the requisite Prince Charming.

About 55 youth actors will appear on stage along with the Missoula Children’s Theatre directors and performers. After an intensive week of rehearsals at Humboldt Collegiate Institute, the show will go in two performances on Saturday, September 17 at 3:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm on the stage at Humboldt Collegiate.

The performances delight audiences each time the troupe rolls through Humboldt, and this year will be no different. The group expects to work with over 65,000 cast members in its performances in various communities over the course of the year. This year’s residency is sponsored by BHP, Arts Humboldt, Sask Lotteries, the City of Humboldt, Humboldt Collegiate, Humboldt Public School, and a number of local businesses.
