As prayers and condolences continue to come to our city, two of the most recognizable names in Canadian music and hockey made a special visit to Humboldt.

On Friday, country star Paul Brandt and hockey legend, Hayley Wickenheiser, came to spend time with the family of Bolt FM's Tyler Bieber.

"I think ever since I first heard the news my heart instantly broke", Wickenheiser told us.  "Not only as a player, but as a Mom, and as someone from Saskatchewan".

She said the support from inside the hockey fraternity is very important.

"The hockey community is a very small one and times like this is where hockey shines.  This is where everybody will pick each other up in moving forward.  The support of the community is there not only in Humboldt but in Canada and around the world".

For Paul Brandt, who has a young boy in hockey, the connection was very personal as well.

"I was getting ready to take off to do a trip to Toronto, and I was thinking it doesn't feel right to do anything but think about Humboldt".

"So I called Hayley and asked if she would come out and just help to kind of dedicate everything that I'm doing to raise awareness even more.  To point people in the direction of organ donation, point them in the direction of blood donation and to continue donating to the Go Fund Me site".

Earlier this year Brandt was asked by Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada to produce a special version of his hit song "Small Towns and Big Dreams" for Rogers Hometown Hockey.  That song has now become a tribute to the Broncos.

"If you're moved by the song, this Humboldt tribute, I hope that those (ways to give and donate) are the things you're thinking about."
