The Humboldt and District Gallery has announced the opening date for their newest exhibit, Frank & Victor Cicansky: Keep on Going.

“We are very excited to have this exhibit travelling. Frank Cicansky was a painter, he did sculptures, he’s a real folk artist. His work influenced his son, who is internationally renowned Victor Cicansky. Together this exhibit talks about immigrant narratives, it talks about settler Canadians in Saskatchewan, and just looking at a playful mix of folk art and funk art,” says Jennifer Fitzpatrick, Director of Cultural Services.

"“Keep on going” was a common phrase of Frank Cicansky. It spoke of his sheer determination to persevere through life’s many challenges. Frank’s determination, strong work ethic, love for making things, and a deep connection to the land, were values that he passed on to his children,” says the Gallery in a release.

The Exhibit will open on March 3, 2023.

“We will have it on until March 23, so only three short weeks, so we do encourage people to come in.”

The exhibit was curated and organized by the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery with funding assistance from the City of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Arts Board, SaskCulture, Saskatchewan Lotteries, and the Canada Council for the Arts. It has toured through OSAC’s Arts on the Move program and is brought to our community by the Humboldt Area Arts Council.

The Gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday: 1:00 - 5:00 pm.
