Teachers from St. Dominic and St. Augustine Schools will be part of the next round of rotating walkouts on Wednesday, February 7 affecting schools in some regions of the province. Humboldt teachers employed by Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools are part of the Saskatoon Teachers Association will be impacted by the walkout.  

Francois Rivard, director of education for GSCS, sent the following message to parents and caregivers, “Classes, extracurricular activities, and all other school-planned events will be cancelled at all GSCS schools on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Please do not send your children to school on this date. Bus and transportation services, including taxis, will also be cancelled for this date. Before and after school programs will not operate on this date but childcare centers will.” 

Creighton School Division, Northern Lights School Division, Prairie Spirit School Division, and Saskatoon Public Schools will join Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools in the walkout. 

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation gave notice of the walkout on Sunday in compliance with their agreement to give at least 48 hours notice of the walkout. The latest walk out will affect approximately 4,300 teachers and 65,300 students.
