October is a month to fight hunger as the Humboldt Community Soup Kitchen teams up with A&W restaurant in Humboldt for a “Give what you ‘can’” event.

Kari Cenciosi of the Soup Kitchen shares that the need is great. She says the Soup Kitchen currently provides regular meals for:

  • 37 children

  • 35 seniors

  • 18 individuals with mental or physical challenges

  • 80 adults

  • 13 single parents

  • 5 two parent families.

The cost of food is on the rise, notes the group. Each meal now costs $8, meaning four meals for a family of three during the month is $96.

Cash donations can be left at the counter at A&W Humboldt with all proceeds going to the Humboldt Community Soup Kitchen.
