According to staff who worked the advance polls ahead of Monday's election stations could be seeing heavier traffic this time around.

Mike Ulriksen manged the polls over the four days of advanced voting and he said they were "busy the whole time with a total of 897 ballots" being cast. That is approximately double from the last federal election that occurred in 2011.

There was a total of 7.093 votes in the Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek riding during the advanced polls.

According to the preliminary figures from Elections Canada, 3.6 million electors voted at the advance polls in this general election. This is a 71 percent increase from the 2,100,855 electors who voted in advance in 2011. This increase was due in part to an additional advance voting day on Sunday, offered for the first time.

The polls will be open Monday until 7:30pm at both Jubilee Hall in the Uniplex and at the Legion on Main Street.

Taking your voter card that arrived in the mail and photo identification will increase efficiency during your voting experience.
