Humboldt and Lanigan RCMP officers want area residents and businesses to be wary of American currency circulating in the region. The detachments are responding to an increased number of complaints where suspects are using counterfeit U.S. currency for purchases.

RCMP recommends that business owners and the public insist that merchandise be paid for in Canadian Currency or with a valid Credit Card where the card holder’s name can be confirmed with a piece of valid photo identification. Also, any incidents of suspects attempting to use counterfeit United States currency in the Humboldt/Lanigan area should be reported to their local detachment.

Anyone with any information regarding incidents of using counterfeit currency in the Humboldt and Lanigan RCMP Detachments are encouraged to call Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the Humboldt RCMP Detachment at 306-682-2535.
