Ruth Wilma Pudrycki (née Kurbis)
November 18, 1936 – May 14, 2022

Our dear mom, Ruth Pudrycki, passed away May 14, 2022. Born November 18, 1936, in Biggar, Saskatchewan she was the third of 10 children. She attended Monarch School for grades 1-9 and loved sports, participating in long jump, running and baseball. She even played on a boys’ team where she out-hit many. Growing up in the 1930’s, her upbringing was humble but she cherished the farm life with her parents and siblings. After completing school, Ruth worked as a housekeeper in the area, and eventually found a position as a cook for road construction companies Evans, and then Kirsch. It was here that Ruth (a beautiful young woman who could bake a mean pie) met Alfred (a strapping young fella with a shiny ‘57 chevy). He knew a good thing when he saw it and they were married on October 7, 1961. Together they took over the Pudrycki farm and raised five children. Ruth worked very hard milking cows, raising chickens, growing gardens, cooking meals, and supporting Alfred in grain farming. She volunteered faithfully at the local church and community events. Upon retiring and moving to town in 2001, Ruth had time to pursue hobbies for the first time. In summer Ruth delighted in filling her yard with flowers and solar lights. During winter she bowled in several leagues. Bethany was a place close to mom’s heart and she spent time visiting and helping with events. Ruth was known and will be remembered for many things: devotion to her Christian beliefs; the meals and baking that she was known for (potato pancakes and jellyroll to only name a few); her competitive spirit in sports and games; great generosity; her big smile and friendly hello; and last but not least, the love of her family…the grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She will be dearly missed. Ruth is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sharon (Dean), Brandon (Christine), Jared (Danielle); Ross (Lorna) Christopher, Jason, Derek (Jackie), Nate, Duke, Cruz, Joel, Dustin, Joshua, Kayla, Nicholas; Dale (Nancy) Chanel, Dylan; Rhonda (Greg) Pearson, Robyn (Rory), Olivia, Evie, Troy (Maria), Ellaina, Layla, Kai, Isaak; Danny (Trina), Taya, Tori, Shae, Damon. Ruth also leaves behind her sisters: Doreen, Jan (Jack) and Margaret; brother Ed (Carol); brother-in-law Irwin (Donna); sister-in-law Cindy; and many nephews and nieces and dear friends. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Alfred; parents Adolf and Emily; four brothers; a sister; and dearly loved in-laws, along with a niece and nephew. The Funeral Service for Ruth was held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, Middle Lake, SK, officiated by Rev. Irwin Pudrycki. Music ministry was led by organist Dori Cooke, with Carol Kurbis. Others taking part were scripture readers Kayla Pudrycki, Taya Pudrycki, and Chanel Pudrycki; eulogists Ross Pudrycki and Robyn Hammond; memorial table attendants Tori Pudrycki, Shae Pudrycki, and Damon Pudrycki; and active pallbearers: Christopher Meyers, Troy Klashinsky, Brandon Zeeben, Joshua Pudrycki, Nicholas Pudrycki, Dylan Pudrycki, Kai Pearson, and Isaak Pearson. Interment followed at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, in Middle Lake, and the memorial luncheon was held in the Faith Lutheran Church Basement.
