Safe Communities Humboldt and Area and Humboldt Age Friendly, alongside numerous regional agencies are bringing a Senior Safety Symposium to Humboldt and Area residents on October 12, 2023, at the Elizabeth.

“It’s a symposium to provide seniors with valuable information on a number of safety topics and the topics will be delivered by professionals in their field, and it’s all in one place,” said Amanda Hauber, Executive Director of Safe Communities Humboldt and Area.

Presentation topics include:

  • preventing falls and getting up from a fall
  • fraud prevention
  • medication reviews and flu/COVID vaccines
  • medical directives/living wills
  • warning signs of Alzheimer’s
  • motorized scooter safety
  • fire and carbon monoxide safety
  • what to expect when you call 911

The event is intended primarily for seniors, but families, caregivers, and professionals can also attend to receive information.

“[The event will take place] October 12 from 9:30 till 3:00, but we are providing lunch and refreshments, so we need attendees to register by September 30th at the latest,” says Hauber. “We are going to have blood pressure testing on site, as well as hearing testing, as well there will be some other vendors there with tables, so attendees will be able to go visit the tables and ask the professionals that will be at those tables as well as presenting any questions that they might have about any of the safety topics.”

The symposium is free to attend, and those looking to register can call 306-682-0705 or email safecommunity@sasktel.net
