The 117th SARM 2022 Annual Convention and Trade Show is kicking off on Tuesday at the Queensbury Convention Centre - Evraz Place in Regina.

This is the first time in two years that the event will be held in person.

“We're pretty excited about that getting together again. It's really important, I think, to our delegates and to our board as well, that we can all sit in the same building for a change,” Said SARM President, Ray Orb. “Getting back now to be able to go out into the public and to meet with people, to listen to their concerns, to find out more about what they think is working out in rural Saskatchewan, and maybe what isn't working at the same time getting some of the speakers to speak about some of the important issues I think will be very helpful to foster the debate and the discussion.”

On Tuesday, Don McMorris, Provincial Minister of Government Relations, will address the delegates at 10:45 a.m., followed by Rural Municipal Administrators' Association President, Guy Lagrandeur and SARM President Ray Orb. Later in the afternoon, there will be a presentation on the new SaskLander app.

On Wednesday, Premier Scott Moe will address the delegates at 10:00 a.m., followed by the bear pit at 10:30 a.m. with the provincial cabinet. The delegates will hear an update from Tim Brodt, President of the Rural Crime Watch Association at 1:40 p.m. The agenda continues with a message from Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization at 2:15 p.m.

“A chance to have a bear pit with their cabinet with listening to the premier start off the discussion, I think that's always been the highlight.”

On Thursday at 9:00 a.m., things will begin with an address from NDP Opposition Leader, Ryan Meili. At 9:15 a.m., delegates will hear the latest update on securing and bettering broadband in RMs across the province.
