With the wrap-up of construction in late 2020, a temporary surface was put in place on Hwy 5 until construction could start up again in the spring of 2021.

With temporary surfaces and the warmer weather, there are blowouts and surface failures on 3 km of this road, which will likely continue as it warms up. The speed limit has been lowered to 60 km/h and warning signs, red diamonds, and message boards are on site.

Work will begin this week, weather permitted, to complete a short-term fix until construction season starts, which is expected to be in May.

You can expect to see the large blowout areas reverted to gravel and smaller potholes to be patched.
