If you’re like me and your smoker is under a foot of snow, but you still have a hankering for some tender smoked riblets, then Lake Lenore is the place you’ve got to be on Saturday, March 4. Lake Lenore Knights of Columbus is hosting its second Rib Fest with plenty of smoky goodness and fun for all.

Allan Hartl is with the organizers, and he says that Lake Lenore Meat’s captain Tom Ripley has been test driving smokers and recipes this week.

“We’ve got the meat shop doing up the ribs for us, and the local Knights doing up the supper,” says Hartl. “At the Rib Fest itself, we have a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, and lots of great fun planned.”

The menu this year includes a choice of succulent teriyaki or a robust Jack Daniels flavour. Tom is the mix master for the sauces as well, so these ribs are unique to the event.

“We were going to have a barbecue competition, but Tom would just beat everybody else out, so why have anybody else doing it,” laughs Hartl. Based on the trial run, Hartl says the ribs are awesome and everyone’s in for a treat.

Hartl says they have a DJ for an evening dance and a raffle on their wagon of fun, containing beverages, snacks and even antacid and aspirin for those who may over-indulge. The wagon prize comes complete with a donated pig for the winner to test their own rib and pork recipes.

It’s guaranteed fun at Lake Lenore’s Rib Fest on Saturday, March 4. Doors open for drinks at 5:30 pm, supper is on at 6:30 and the dance starts at 8:30. Advance tickets are available as listed below.
