The snowfall warning has been lifted for the Humboldt area, but the 10-15 cm of snow left in its wake has left our highways in grim shape. As of 5:00 am, Highway 5 has drifts and heavy snowpack. Numerous cars are in the ditch along Highway 5 east. Visibilities last night were reduced to zero at times, and that, combined with the snowpack, made for treacherous conditions.

Once the plows hit area highways, driving conditions will be closer to winter travel, but for now, the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline is advising travel not recommended on Highway 5 east and west of Humboldt.

Motorists who have to set out will need to reduce speed, watch for vehicles on the highway shoulder, and travel with caution.
