On the cusp of November, football action is heating up across the province, and east central Saskatchewan has no lack of football frenzy this time of year. Right through the classifications, teams criss-crossed the area hoping to advance to the next round.

In 6-aside 1A football, St. Brieux took its first shot at playoff football and came out on top, defeating Cumberland House 60-30. They’ll continue to the next round on Saturday, November 5, taking on Lemberg.

In 2A 6 aside, the powerhouse Wakaw Warriors sealed their trip to the next round, defeating Creighton in Wakaw by a score of 51-16. Meanwhile, Wynyard Bears dispatched Cupar in a 54-8 rout. That sets up a matchup of rivals with Wakaw heading to Wynyard next Saturday to decide the round.

In 4A 9-aside, the Humboldt Mohawks season came to an end in Fort Qu’Appelle with a 24-7 result in favour of Fort Qu’Appelle.

Good luck to regional teams vying for a birth into provincials next weekend.
