It’s that time of year when chocolate almonds make their rounds, and it’s all for a good cause.

Tomorrow, September 21, the St. Elizabeth Ladies Auxiliary will go door to door to raise funds by selling chocolate almonds.

“We will probably be heading out shortly after 5 pm, and go door to door all over town. Whatever is left will be taken to hopefully Sobeys and the Co-op. We’ve got people selling in condos and might go out to rural areas, depending on how many boxes we have left,” says Maxine Mesenchuk with the Auxiliary.

She says the extreme heat the Humboldt area has experienced put a halt on selling them sooner, saying the heat would have made the chocolate melt and not be able to ship.

With the cooler temperatures, they are looking forward to getting out into the community to raise some funds.

The chocolate-covered almonds cost 2$ a box, with Mesenchuk saying all funds raised go towards purchasing equipment for the hospital.
