This Sunday, HCI teacher Jamie White’s colleagues, friends, family and students will have the Collegiate’s gym and commons area rocking with activity. Mrs. White’s Fight mobilizes everyone to a multi-faceted event to support Jamie’s courageous fight against cancer.

Colleague and friend Kerri Archibald is one of many spearheading the effort, and she caught up with an update.

“We have a sixteen team volleyball tournament ready to go. The first game will start at 9:00 am, and we have the finals set to start at 7:15 pm, so it’ll be a full day of volleyball. We have some student teams and some adult teams mixed together, so we’re very excited to get that going.”

A booth providing delicious Ukrainian and Filipino fare will operate through the day for those wishing to stop in for lunch. At the same time, a silent auction and a garage sale will be part of the marketplace in the commons area.

“Right now we have about 65 silent auction prizes ready to go, so we’d like to thank all of the local businesses and people who have donated so far. We are still accepting donations up to Thursday of this week.”

Anyone wishing to donate can contact Kerri Archibald at  (306) 230-1935.

The community wide garage sale provides two options, Archibald explains. Donors can drop off items for volunteers to sell with the proceeds going toward the White Family Fund. However, sellers can also rent tables to run their own garage sale in the marketplace, thereby keeping the profits from their own sales. Table fees, all going to the fundraisers, go at $15 for one table, $25 for two tables, $30 for three, and $5 for each additional table after that. Those interested in participating in the garage sale can contact Heidi Phillips at (306) 682-1010.

There’s a bit of something for everyone as the community rallies around Jamie White and her fight, this Sunday, October 23 at HCI.
