The Humboldet and District Chamber of Commerce has a new president. Tammy Ward, branch manager of the Humboldt Conexus Credit Union has stepped in for departing Brent Walker. Walker, manager of the Humboldt Co-op, has been president of the Chamber for the past several years. He is departing for a new position in Red Deer. Ward took office effective May 11.

Walker said, “I am so proud of what we have accomplished as a Chamber over the past few years and I feel that the future is bright for the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce as we continue to achieve the goals in our strategic plan. Knowing the new directors that joined this year combined with the existing directors I know that I am leaving the Chamber in a great place. It has been excellent getting to know all of you and you will be missed”.

Ward has been on the Chamber for four years. She steps into the role of president with the support of an incredibly diverse board of directors and the office team that makes up the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce.

“The Chamber has done well to adapt to changing needs within our region and I look forward to continuing that work,” said Ward. “Our current board of directors bring skills that will allow the Chamber to look at new opportunities that will support our members as well as create support systems for new and existing businesses within our region. The preliminary work on developing an incubator or accelerator is one project that I am excited to have a dedicated committee working on.”

In a release from the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce, the Board thanked Walker for his time on the Chamber of Commerce and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.
