The Dayna Brons Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of the Broncos athletic trainer from Lake Lenore, has been announced for 2024.

Congratulations to Alexandra Sceiford, graduating from Slippery Rock this spring, for being awarded the third annual Dayna Brons Memorial Scholarship. Alex has completed clinical rotations with Slippery Rock University, Butler HS, and Westminster College; she completed her immersive residency at Chatham University, primarily working with the women’s volleyball and ice hockey teams.

Alex’s additional clinical experiences and certifications made her stand out, but her recommendation letters really made her shine as an applicant. Alex is described as curious, eager to learn, and having a natural ability to mentor and connect. Her patient-centered approach is to be admired. The committee looks forward to seeing where Alex’s career takes her next.

The award was established by Rebecca Kayda, an athletic therapist with Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA, with support from her husband Tom. The couple established a charitable foundation to see that a scholarship bearing Dayna’s name is awarded each year to a western Pennsylvania athletic training student who exemplifies her dedication and commitment to the profession as well as her zest for life.
