Different radio stations across the country have different philosophies when it comes to incorporating holiday music into their usual lineups.

Some will play all Christmas all the time starting December first, and others, like 107.5 Bolt FM, gradually mix in Christmas tracks with their regular content.

But no matter which way you slice it, I love Christmas music and the variety we see during the season. Nothing inspires the festive spirit to emerge within me more than music.

I truly believe that variety is the spice of life, and music is no exception. I enjoyed how we sprinkled some Christmas cheer into our shows, through an eclectic mix of Christmas tunes and many of our other regular favourites. I'm the type of person who likes to hear "regular" music as well as all the holiday stuff throughout December so this choice suits me to a t.

On "Christmas Eve Eve" (Dec. 23rd), as my brother and I would say growing up, we are now playing all Christmas music at the station, and I've been enjoying THAT mix as well.  Within the holiday music genre itself, much variety can be found. Part of the appeal of listening to music at this time of year is the chance to hear contemporary artists' freshly-released renditions of Christmas favourites, as well as some fantastic original songs.

Christmas is the only time of year when musical legends of the past will air alongside the hottest pop acts on the Billboard charts.

Serena Ryder one moment; Ella Fitzgerald, the next....and I couldn't be happier.
