The streets of Watson were packed on Saturday with visitors and residents out and about for Spring Into Watson. Among the highlights of the day were a Main Street Show and Shine, the huge trade fair at the arena, a network of garage sales throughout the community, and of course, the nighttime cabaret featuring Brock Andrews.

A solid collection of roadsters, trucks, motorbikes and even vintage tractors caught the eyes of Show and Shine attendees.

Kim Bodnard had his 1970 Satellite stock car on display. The street rod has seen action at the SIR track but was resting its Hoosier slicks for a day on display.

Humboldt Collector Reynold Fortowsky had his Model A replica out for a jaunt. His Ford Coupe was lovingly crafted from the ground up and has the precision look of the original.

Hundreds of people cycled through the displays at the Arena. From expertly prepared food to crafts and mementoes for gardeners, fishermen, fashionistas and fragrance lovers, there was truly something for everyone.

People enjoyed the nice weather to have a wander around the streets, checking out the garage sale bargains, and returning downtown for lunch. The Watson Fire Department had the burgers sizzling, and the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge had their beef raffle tickets on sale in aid of raising funds for a new long term care facility.

The skies were bright and sunny following the previous night's thundershowers, much to the delight of Watson mayor, Norma Weber.

“What a change in the weather from what we had last night,” said Weber under the glorious Saturday morning sunshine. “It’s tremendous and good to see such a great crowd in town. There’s a lot of new people coming to see what a great town Watson is.”

The next big event coming to the community is the Watson Streetfest with musical entertainment by Eliza Doyle and Sask Steel. Watch for the upcoming story. In the meantime, enjoy the sights and sounds of Spring Into Watson, organized by the Watson Chamber of Commerce.
