Humboldt merchants are gearing up for “the most wonderful time of the year.” It’s Moonlight Madness this Thursday, November 17, with all the seasonal excitement that comes with it. Along with extended shopping hours, business doors will welcome shoppers with a host of Moonlight Madness specials, and all that hospitality and great service that Humboldt shoppers have come to expect. There are also some new elements, says Brent Fitzpatrick with the Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District.

“It’s going to be a little bit different this year. Everything is going to be taking place on the steps of the Museum in downtown Humboldt. The special event part will begin at 6 pm.”

This year’s entertainment includes Yana Yudina-Jeewon, talented vocalist who has shared her incomparable musical ability this summer at community events.

“This young lady has an incredible voice,” says Fitzpatrick. “She will be performing until just about 8 o’clock. We’ve got the St. Dominic School Choir coming for a couple of songs as they did last year. It’s going to be a wonderful way to get you into the mood for the holiday season.”

Dancers from A-List Studios will be on hand getting people involved in a “flash mob” style performance.

Of course, there will be Bid Bucks on hand to redeem at local merchants. This year, Fitzpatrick says there will be double the number of Bid Bucks available for shoppers, amounting to $1000 in merchandise. For every purchase over $5 in value, a Bid Buck will contribute $5 to the purchase.

“It’s just a nice way to help out all of the businesses - we’re giving away $1000 to our business community which I think is just awesome. It’s the day before Black Friday, and it’s a way for our business community to ensure they get support from our folks.”

Fitzpatrick reminds shoppers that it’s the business members that are the year-round backers for community fundraisers and projects big and small, and Moonlight Madness is a great way to make those holiday purchases and say “thank you” to local businesses for another great year of community support.
