With a solid core of members representing one of the largest Elks clubs in the country, the Muenster Elks were back in 2023 raising and distributing funds and carrying on community service ventures in Muenster and around the area.

The Elks have provided long standing support for local facilities like the Community Hall, St. Peter’s Cathedral, James Korte Field and other Muenster based interests. They’ve also been consistent contributors to both the Humboldt and District Hospital Foundation and St. Mary’s Villa. This year has been no exception.

When it comes to fundraising, that’s where the membership and the community come together both to work and to celebrate. Gord Kiefer, Exalted Ruler (aka Director) of the Muenster Elks talks about some of this year’s events that helped fill the coffers.

“We do an annual steak supper every year where we pick an organization to donate to. We have an annual playoff hockey draft, which is tons of fun, and it’s the same thing where all the proceeds go toward charitable groups.”

This year, the Muenster Elks were a part of the Professional Bull Riding (PBR) show hosted by Discovery Ford. Discovery worked with numerous community organizations to help them generate funds that went back to worthy causes. Muenster Elks provided beverage service and a full rib meal for the VIP supporters of the PBR Event.

Among the beneficiaries this year were the Muenster Community Childcare Centre ($2000), the East Central Red Sox (sponsorship for National tournament - $2000), and local families in need ($4100). Other targeted groups to receive funds were Muenster Donor’s Choice, St. Peter’s Scholarship, the Humboldt and District Music Festival, and Muenster Minor Ball and Hockey.

“We raise money – we give it all away,” Kiefer says. “We like to support our community, and we recognize that Humboldt is a big part of our community. We’re all living here together, we’re all five miles apart, and we want to be involved in everything.”

The Muenster Elks send out a Merry Christmas greeting to one and all and hope families have a happy holiday season.
