The other day when I was reading tweets about the "Bomb Cyclone" in the Eastern U.S. I found it kind of funny that people in Florida were acting as if the zombie apocalypse was going to happen when they saw snow on the ground.

I get it, Florida is where people go to get away from the snow and now they're freaking out like the end of the world is near it's kind of funny when you're from Saskatchewan. Here, in Saskatchewan on the Prairies, - 30 C temperatures and a healthy serving of snow are normal for a winter day.

There was also a funny caption I found of a meme that said "People In Florida: We're all gonna die, We're all gonna die and in Canada, we're outside by a pile of snow barbecuing and saying "What would you like on burger?"

It's funny too because in Toronto they were experiencing -25 C weather and they were complaining how cold it was there and I literally tweeted them saying "You think that's cold, I'm from Saskatchewan, This is normal". To which I got a reply saying jokingly "How do you survive?" And I replied again by saying "That's what happens when you're built, Prairie Tough".

Growing up here, you get a sense of that "Prairie Toughness" where you can survive when it gets that cold. In Toronto, the coldest it gets there is usually -15 C which we'd almost be in shorts. OK, maybe not that but for sure we'd be having fun outside.

This is just like when I went to Mexico in February 2016 and it was 20 C outside and we Canadians are out with shorts on and then we saw a woman wearing a parka and all of us starting laughing in the vehicle because we came from where it's 20 below almost every day to a place where every day feels like a normal Saskatchewan spring day.

So the next time you say "It's So Cold" Just think about that Prairie Toughness you were born with and think to yourself "I'm grateful that I've experienced this."
