Fall brings back the Members' Show and Sale to the Gallery
A very welcome fall tradition took place at the Humboldt and District Gallery with the opening of its Fall Members’ Show and Sale on Saturday, September 20. Talented local artists, with works as varied as the imagination, gathered to showcase and talk about this season's submissions. “The Members’ Show and Sale has been around for some time, and we’re quite proud of that,” noted Katherine Harrison with the City’s Cultural Services Department. “It’s been going since 2016, and it’s a demonstration of the incredible talents of the Humboldt and District Gallery membership. Our membership is open to all established and emerging artists, including youth artists between the ages of 12 and 17.” Thirty-six member artists have contributed 81 pieces of art on two floors of the gallery space. There are newcomers like Brian Stomp with his gifted woodturning and veterans like Sharon Schoenfeld who has staged her own exhibitions in the Gallery. Contributions include paintings, drawings, photographs, glasswork, mixed media and more. There are all shapes and sizes of frames and displays to catch the eye. There are landscapes aplenty, from bold and punchy to subdued and airy, along with portraits, abstracts and various visual flights of fancy. Best of all, purchasing is as easy as checking in at the desk, making the purchase payment, and picking up your selection at the end of the show. The Gallery Members’ Show and Sale continues through to October 29.
