Bruno broomball players to represent Canada at Super Series in Minneapolis
Four broomball players from Bruno, Saskatchewan will be suiting up for Team Canada in the upcoming Can-Am Broomball Super Series, set to take place October 3–4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The high-level tournament, featuring Canada’s top broomball talent against the best from the United States, will include men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions in a best-of-five format. Representing Bruno are: Matthew Solar (Mixed Division) Dallen Jule (Mixed Division) Cody Thiel (Men’s Division) Tory White (Women’s Division) “This is a really exciting opportunity,” said Phil Solar, long-time supporter of Bruno broomball and father of Matthew Solar. “These four athletes were invited by national coaches and scouts after being noticed for their skills and commitment to the game.” Players were contacted earlier this year by coaches, some from Quebec, and given a series of training exercises to prepare, focusing on fitness, speed, and agility. While no official playbooks were distributed, athletes were expected to come physically ready for the intensity of international-level play. “We’re flying down Thursday,” said Solar. “And from Friday to Saturday, it’s going to be two full days of broomball. Lots of games, lots of excitement.” The Can-Am Super Series is separate from the World Broomball Championships and focuses exclusively on showcasing elite talent from both sides of the border. For the small town of Bruno, it’s a proud moment to see homegrown talent competing at such a high level. “They’re all young, in great shape, and ready to represent their country,” said Solar. “It’s a big deal, not just for them, but for our whole community.”
