Nutrien division powerhouses Broncos and Klippers set to collide in Humboldt tonight
It has the makings for a heavyweight bout at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Tuesday night. The Humboldt Broncos will host their Nutrien Division rivals in Kindersley Klippers. Both teams are tied for top spot in the division and along with the Estevan Bruins, are tied for second spot overall in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League standings with 16 points. In their lone meeting so far in the 2025-26 season, the Klippers handed the Broncos their first loss of the year with a 5-3 triumph in Kindersley in a game that saw the two teams combine for 90 penalty minutes. The Broncos and Klippers should become well acquainted over the next couple of weeks, as the teams will meet three times over the next 13 days. Next weekend the teams will battle in a home and home set beginning in Kindersley on Saturday, November 1 followed by a matinee affair in Humboldt on Sunday, November 2 with a special faceoff time at 4:00. Six has been the magical number for the Broncos in their current homestand, as they earned wins over the Battlefords North Stars on October 11 and La Ronge Ice Wolves on October 17, scoring six goals in both contests. During Friday’s win over the Ice Wolves, Broncos forward Jacob Strizzi extended his goal-streak to six games. So far this season, Strizzi has 14 goals which leads the SJHL in that department and is second overall in points (18) after Estevan’s Ewan Rennie rocketed up the stat sheet with 10 points over his last three games last week. Kindersley rolls into town tonight with points in their last nine games, including a weekend sweep over the Melville Millionaires. After a 3-2 shootout win on Friday, the Klippers hammered the Millionaires on Saturday night with a 10-3 victory. The last time the Klippers lost in regulation was the team’s home opener when the North Stars got the win in Kindersley on September 20. This week the Elgar Petersen Arena will be buzzing as the Broncos will wrap up their five-game homestand. Following tonight’s game, the Broncos will host the Nipawin Hawks for the first time this season on Friday night. Then on Saturday, the Flin Flon Bombers will make their second visit to the EPA. The Bombers have lost their last six games after beginning the year with six wins. The Broncos handed Flin Flon their first loss of the season back on October 7. Coverage for tonight’s game on 107.5 Bolt FM and discoverhumboldt.com begins with the pregame show at 7:15.
