Brody Joseph Daniel Hinz
December 10, 1999 – April 6, 2018

It is with broken hearts that the family of Brody Joseph Daniel Hinz of Humboldt, SK, announces his passing as a result of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus accident on Friday, April 6, 2018.  Brody Joseph Daniel Hinz was born on December 10, 1999 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.   He is survived by his mother, Darlene Hinz (nee Miller); sister, Kendall; paternal grandmother, Marcella Hinz; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Dale Hinz; paternal grandfather, Daniel Hinz; maternal grandfather, Richard Miller; and maternal grandmother, Geraldine Miller (nee Henning).   Brody spent his school years at Humboldt Public School and Humboldt Collegiate. Always a happy and playful young person, Brody developed a love of sports at a very early age including being a fan of the Humboldt Broncos.  He played soccer, bowling and in his teenage years, football with the Humboldt Mohawks. As a participant in the Special Olympics, his love of sports continued to grow. The Big Brothers Association was a very important part of his life and provided ongoing life guidance and lots of weekly friendship and adventure. Brody regularly attended the United Church where he found numerous opportunities to participate in helping others, develop his natural speaking abilities, and enjoy ongoing friendship and support. Brody’s awareness grew through all those experiences of daily life struggles and to always stay positive. The teachers and administration of the schools cared and looked out for Brody in so many ways. Whether it be replacing a lost lunch, finding missing boots, needing reassurance, or planning his vocational pursuits, they were there every step of the way to support him. Brody enjoyed many moments at the Soup Kitchen and participated in many of the Humboldt Community Services. The Partners Association generously contributed to Brody’s teenage years in so many ways. The Humboldt Bronco organization and players were a very special part of his life. Since the age of seven, he attended games whenever possible. Bronco players devoted time in mentoring Brody which meant a lot to him. When the opportunity to participate in preparing stats for his beloved Broncos arrived, he was over the moon.  Sitting next to Tyler Bieber at games and working the stats were some of his most enjoyable moments.  During Bronco games, he helped in any way possible.  Brody worked with a wonderful group of people at Bolt FM where his blogging and stat guy skills really began to shine.  So many people touched Brody’s life in so many beautiful ways and of special note are Kathy and Harvey Klatt, James Folster and Brenda Curtis.   As Brody prepared for high school graduation this upcoming June, he planned to continue his involvement with the Broncos and eventually attend the University of Regina in Sports Management. Brody, we miss you so much, you have touched all our hearts and take comfort in knowing you are with your dad. The United Funeral Service was held at St. Augustine R.C.
