David Korte
December 20, 1968 - October 1, 2015

The unexpected death of David Allan Korte of Lloydminster, AB, occurred at his residence on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the age of 46 years.  Dave was born on December 20, 1968, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Humboldt, SK, to Don and Marie Ann (nee Vogelsang) Korte.  He grew up in Humboldt where he received all his education.  After graduating, Dave enrolled at SIAST where he received his Welding Certificate and, later on, his Pressure Welding Ticket at Lakeland College in Vermillion, AB.  He then started his own welding company, Sure Bead Welding Ltd., in Lloydminster which he owned for 24 years and was very proud of.  Dave loved to go hunting, fishing, motorcycling and snowmobiling, but his passion was his antique red Chev truck, of which only a few were made.  He always said that he’ll keep fixing that truck as long as he lived.  Dave was a very loving, thoughtful, easy-going and caring person, who would do anything for you.  His family meant everything to him and he’d always keep in touch.  He made every effort to be home for most of the holidays, especially Christmas, where he would always over gift people with very thoughtful presents.  It was sad to see him suffer with Lyme disease over the past five to six years.  Dave tried so hard to educate himself about the disease, but found very little help or support.  He treated himself with natural foods and a very strict diet.  Sadly though, each year the disease took a greater toll on his body.  Lately, even the simplest tasks became such an effort and he became so frustrated with being sick.  Dave will definitely be missed by his parents, family and friends.  He was a great guy!  “Good health is a true blessing, not to be taken for granted.”  Dave will be lovingly remembered by his dad, Don Korte and his stepmother, Marilyn (nee Rath) Korte of Humboldt; his brother Russ (Linda) Korte and family, Justin (Rhea) Korte, and Rachelle Korte (Shane Covey) and their daughter Aleaha, all of Saskatoon; and by three step-sisters:  Michelle Malone, Shonna Dazell and Lafern Francouer, all of British Columbia.  He was predeceased by his mother, Marie Ann (nee Vogelsang) Korte; brother, Rodney Korte; paternal grandparents, Ben and Hildegard (nee Muyres) Korte; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Katherine (nee Voellmecke) Vogelsang.  The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah.  Others taking part were: Allan Korte, urnbearer; Russ Korte, crossbearer; Justin Korte and Joyce Schmeiser, scripture readers; Rachelle Korte and Rhea Korte, intentions; Harold and Christine Korte, giftbearers; Karen Korte and Vivian Korte, memorial table attendants.  Music ministry was provided by director Loretta Schugmann, organist Dolores Hinz, and the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir.  Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Dave’s life”.  Interment followed at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Muenster, SK.  Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund.
