Dennis Wayne Wickenhauser

February 9, 1948 – December 8, 2016

The death of Dennis Wickenhauser of Watson, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Thursday, December 8, 2016.  He was 68 years of age.  Dennis was born on Monday, February 9, 1948 to Leander and Helen (nee Miskuski) Wickenhauser in Vancouver, BC.  When he was two years of age, they moved and settled on a farm in the Romance District near LeRoy, SK.  Dennis received his education at Early Dawn Country School, Watson School and then St. Peter’s College in Muenster.  He enjoyed tinkering around the garage and working on cars.  Music was his passion; he belonged to several bands in early adulthood and always had a lifelong enjoyment of music.   Dennis cherished his time with family and friends at the family cabin at Marean Lake.  Some of his favourite pastimes included fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed socializing with his many friends of various ages.  Dennis loved to take on new business adventures, some of which included commercial painting, amusement and vending machines and trucking.  Dennis will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter Kristi Wickenhauser and her daughters Jordyne and Victoria; son Blaine (Jamie) Wickenhauser and their son Ryder; his sisters: Darlene (Jim) Vetter and their daughter Tenelle (Dan) and children Kaiden, Caleb and Mason; Jayne (Wayne) Mierke and their family, Mike (Jolene) and children Hannah, Brooke, Ava and Hayden; Lee (Kevin) and Amy (Kurt) and their children Jonah, Presley, Seger and Sebastian;  as well as numerous cousins and close friends.  He was predeceased by his  parents  Leander and Helen (nee Miskuski)  Wickenhauser.  A Prayer Service was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Watson, SK, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.  Lay presiders were Milt Kerpan and Willy Gaudet.  Scripture readers were Bev Thoen and Dianna Knaus, and a eulogy was delivered by Mike Mierke.  A Funeral Service was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Watson,  on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Fr. Francis Akomeah.  Others taking part were: Michael Sookeroff and Marc Sookeroff, crossbearers;   Bev Thoen and Dianna Knaus, scripture readers; Natasha Sookeroff and Mackenzie Mackimmie, memorial table attendants; and Greg Putnam  urnbearer.   Interment  followed at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund.
