It is with great sadness that the family of Dick Lemmerick of Regina, SK, announces his passing at the age of 86, following a brief illness. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019, with family by his side. Dick was born on March 9, 1932, to Richard and Anne Lemmerick in Humboldt, SK, and grew up on the family farm in the Muenster district. Following his education, Dick briefly joined the Army Reserve and was stationed in Dundurn, SK. In his youth, he pursued an interest in boxing, and his talent led him to become a welterweight champion in Saskatchewan. On May 9, 1959, Dick married Dolores Rath in St. Gertrude R.C. Church. They began their life together in Humboldt, then moved to Regina in August, 1963. Three children were born to them. While living in Regina, Dick was employed at the IPSCO steel plant for over 28 years. During that time, he was a loyal blood donor, with numerous donations to the Red Cross. In their leisure time, Dick and Dolores enjoyed driving around the countryside taking pictures of old homesteads and grain elevators. They were long-time members of St. Peter’s R.C. Church, and more recently of Holy Trinity R.C. Church, both in Regina. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Anne (nee Mainzer) Lemmerick; one brother, Roger; one sister, Blanche; in-laws of the Rath family, August and Paula Rath, Mathias Rath, Marilyn Korte, Robert Rath, Eileen Rath, and Lorne Schmitz; and by great-niece, Rayna Korte.
