Elaine Katherine Theis
February 18, 1944 – March 9, 2018

In memory of a woman who made this world a brighter and better place, the family of Elaine Katherine Theis would like to announce her passing on Friday, March 9, 2018.  Elaine was born on February 18, 1944 in Humboldt, SK to Leo and Tillie Gehlen.  She was the second of five children.  Elaine grew up on the family farm north of Humboldt.  Her love of children drew her to a career in teaching that lasted for 31 years.  Her passions included bowling, gardening, curling, dancing with her husband Ken, playing slow pitch, playing Mah Jongg, camping and traveling.  Elaine was a selfless woman, a hard worker, and a woman of strong faith.  She had many close friends as she journeyed with Ken through this life.  Elaine met her partner Ken on the dance floor, and on July 6, 1968 they wed and soon began a family.  Elaine’s two grandsons were the love of her life.  She made every sporting event or activity that Brett and Ethan participated in.  She was an exceptionally loving grandmother.  Elaine is dearly loved and remembered by her husband Ken; son Jeff (Liz), daughter Sherri Moroz (Clint), grandsons Brett and Ethan.  Siblings Ray (Marj) Gehlen, Lorna (Werner) Yungmann, Ron (Janice) Gehlen, Linda (Gord) Snell.  Sisters-in-law Millie (Dale) Weiman, Carol (Eric) Davis; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon).  Following the Reception, the Rite of Committal will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1736 Quebec Ave # 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or the GSCS (Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Foundation)(420-22nd St. East, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1X3). Arrangements are in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Service (306) 978-5200  www.mourningglory.ca
