Evelyn Zintel
Sept. 24, 1936 – Feb. 2, 2017

Mrs. Evelyn Alice Zintel (nee Duke), age 80 years of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2017.  Evelyn was born September 24, 1936 to Walter and Ethel (nee Barnes) Duke in Kenora, ON. When she was young, the family moved to Winnipeg, MB where she grew up and attended school. She moved to Saskatoon, where she worked for the Red Cross. Evelyn decided to pursue a career in nursing and did her training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt where she graduated in June 1960.  That same year, she married Edward Zintel on October 15, 1960 at St. Augustine Church in Humboldt, SK.  She was a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Nurses Alumnae.  Evelyn had many interests, including photography, sewing, gardening, and square dancing. She enjoyed travelling with Ed in retirement, especially their European trips. Due to failing health, Evelyn moved to St. Mary’s Villa in March 2014.  Evelyn will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 56 years, Ed of Humboldt; three sons, two daughters and 12 grandchildren: Ward Zintel (Priya Lynn) of Saskatoon; Trevor (Lisa) Zintel of Saskatoon and their  children Dustyn, Raysha, and Devon; Regan (Karin) Zintel of Calgary and their  children, Bryan, Jacob, Quinn, and TJ; Carolyn Monz of Kelowna, BC and her children, Jade, Kristen, and Lucas; and Rachel (Darcy) Lewis of Kelowna, BC, and their children Alexandra and Brock; and sisters-in-law Lil Duke and Winnie Duke. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Ethel Duke; son Cal David Zintel; and her brothers Bill Duke and Bob Duke. Her family would to thank the St Mary’s Villa team for their care and kindness for the past 3 years. The Funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu.  Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery, Marysburg.  Memorial Donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation or Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
