Harry Stadnyk

June 16, 1953 – September 20, 2016

The death of Mr. Harry Stadnyk of Carmel, SK, occurred on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK.  He was 63 years of age.  Harry was born to Mike and Mary (nee Kocharo) Stadnyk in Humboldt.  His early childhood was spent in Carmel.  Eventually, Harry moved to Humboldt to live with his father and grandmother, and to attend school.  Later, Harry took over the Stadnyk homestead near Carmel and became a cattle farmer.  He loved his farm and his land right to the end of his life.  For many years, Harry was employed with the Canadian National Railway until failing health necessitated him to retire.  An avid outdoorsman, Harry loved to hunt; it was like a holiday to him.  Innumerable hours were spent over the years hunting deer, moose, elk, and even bear.  He always wanted to get the “Big One”.  In his leisure time, Harry loved playing Kaiser and watching wrestling.  He was a dye-hard wrestling fan when it came to WWF, especially the Hart Boys and Hulk Hogan.  Harry will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Mary (nee Kocharo) Stadnyk; and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  The Funeral Mass was offered at All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Mykola Romanets.  Others taking part were:  Sylvester Senko, cantor; and Katlynn Stadnyk, crossbearer; and Lisa Ward, eulogist.  Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Harry’s life”.  Active pallbearers were Corey Ebner, Chris Stadnyk, Nathan Stadnyk, Travis Stadnyk, Shawn Stadnyk, and Courtney Ward.  Interment followed at All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care.
