Ida Haeusler
July 6, 1934 – November 1, 2017 

Ida Helen (nee Richels) Haeusler of Humboldt, SK passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Humboldt District Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Ida was born to Alois and Dorothy (nee Beck) Richels of St. Gregor, SK. She took one year of schooling at Shirley School and at the age of seven her family moved to a farm near Humboldt where she attended Veronica Country School. After her schooling Ida worked for local farm families doing both inside work and outside chores for them. On September 3, 1951 Ida married Bernard Haeusler at New Westminster B.C. They farmed one mile south of the Lake Lenore corner along Highway 368 and in 1966 they bought land at Burr, SK and that’s where they ran a grain and cattle farm operation. Ida was a hardworker and also worked at cleaning jobs at the Burr municipal office, Burr Hotel, Burr Hall and the Pioneer Hotel in Humboldt. Ida also raised her two grandchildren, Bradly and Brent. In 2002, due to her health Ida moved to Humboldt, where she still looked after a large garden. In 2012, Ida and Bernard moved into the Harry Ford Centre where she developed many special friendships. Ida will be lovingly remembered by her two sons and four daughters: Larry (Marlene) Haeusler and family, Ryan (Eileen), Rhonda (Jamie) and Jodi (Chris); Yvonne (Terry) Saretsky and family, Kim (Kelly) and Tracey (Daniel); Joan (Brian) Jaeb and family, Jennifer (Brendan) and Dean; Kevin (Myrna) Haeusler and family Mikila (Nelson) and Landis; Elaine Haeusler (Henry) and son Lee; Bernice (Ralph) Myrheim and family, Bradly (Nicole), Brent (Gwen), Leanne, Branden, and Caine; 21 great-grandchildren; sister Rose Sawchuck; stepsister Mary Borowetz; brother-in-law, Ladmer Cherepuschak; in-laws of the Haeusler family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her husband Bernard Haeusler; two grandchildren: Carrie Ann Haeusler and Michael Jaeb; great-grandson Oakley Merkosky; parents, Alois and Dorothy (nee Beck) Richels; brother, Alois Richels; stepsister, Anne Cherepuschak; brothers-in-law: John Schmidt, John Sawchuk, and John Borowetz; and in-laws of the Haeusler family. A Private Family Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m., presided by Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Others taking part were: Leanne Engele, and Kelly Saretsky, scripture readers; Myrna Haeusler, intentions; Ida’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were: Bradly Haeusler, Brent Haeusler, Kim Saretsky, Dean Jaeb, Lee Haeusler and Ryan Haeusler. Interment followed at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, Marysburg, Saskatchewan. Memorial Donations may be directed to Assumption Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery Fund.
