Jennet Christina Elliott
October 21, 1931 – March 25, 2021

It is with sorrow that the family of Jennet Christina (nee Amundson) Elliott of Lanigan, SK, announces her death which occurred on Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was 89 years of age. Jennet, the eighth child in a family of 11, was born on October 21, 1931, to Helge and Anna (Christianson) Amundson at home on their farm in the Naicam district. She attended a country school called Home School and then high school in Naicam. Jennet liked school from the get-go, so she continued her education at Normal School in Saskatoon where she received her Teacher’s Certificate and started her years of teaching. In 1953, she met Delbert “Del” Elliott and they were married on July 16, 1954. To that union, four sons were born – Jim, Brian, Philip and Richard. Returning to teaching – now in town schools where she taught Grade 3, she taught for 26 years in Lanigan Elementary School. Del went to work in the mining industry in Faro, Yukon, so Jennet retired from teaching after 30 years and moved to the Yukon. Del retired and they moved back to Lanigan. For Jennet, retirement was busy with gardening, quilting, knitting, crocheting and, of course, coffeeing. Later on, Jennet and Del bought a cabin at Marean Lake which they thoroughly enjoyed, filling their time with fishing, golfing and, of course, coffeeing with friends. Jennet and Del went with brother Lloyd and his wife Muriel to attend the Norwegian Fall Music Festival. They enjoyed that so much they continued going for ten years. Sadly, however, in 2006, while in Minot, North Dakota, Del unexpectedly passed away. Now on her own, Jennet kept busy with the Lutheran Church, the Hospital/Lodge Auxiliary, and Merry Mixers. At the Lodge, she helped with bingo and monthly birthday parties. As well, exercising and bowling in Jansen kept her very busy. Jennet leaves to mourn her four sons: Jim (Margaret) Elliott, Brian Elliott (friend Krista), Philip (Christina) Elliott, and Richard (Lori) Elliott; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Gunder (Merne) Amundson, Melvin (Joyce) Amundson, and Marion (Don) Schulz; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Del Elliott; parents, Helge and Anna (nee Christianson) Amundson; five brothers and two sisters: Ruben (Joyce) Amundson, Helga (Ben) Davis, Thelma (Walter) Vonau, Roy Amundson, Lloyd (Muriel) Amundson, John Amundson, and Arnold Amundson (in infancy). The Lutheran Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Clint Magnus. The eulogy was delivered by Jim Elliott. Pallbearers were Adam Mierke, Troy Mierke, Travis Mierke, Jim Elliott, Brian Elliott, and Richard Elliott. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Lanigan. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society (#2-630 45th Street, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5W9).
