Joseph James Faul Jr.

July 7, 1942 - June 3, 2016

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph James Faul Jr. 73 years of Central Parkland Lodge Lanigan on Friday, June 3, 2016 at his residence. Joe was born on July 7, 1942 to Joe and Rosie (nee Moorman) Faul at Humboldt. Joe was the youngest of three boys and next in line to his younger sister whom he spent many quality hours playing with and protecting. He attended Dixon school until grade eight and went to High School in Watson.  He continued with his education and became a plumber/pipefitter. Joe had an entrepreneur spirit from a young age. He loved the outdoors and would was always busy setting traps to catch different animals which included crow’s feet. Joe would trap and hunt anything that would make him money. He also did try to rescue a hawk at one time. He loved his life on the farm building snow huts, picking stones and other farm activities. Later he had a flare for cooking and made the best homemade sausage in the country. His children and nephews would enjoy a great feast after the sausage making was complete. He also would treat the family with his favourite Divinity Fudge at Christmas. In reality, his cooking skills started at a very young age.  When coming home from school one day in the caboose pulled by a horse, he would make toast for Carol on the pot belly stove with the left over sandwiches they had. As an adult, Joe loved the outdoors and loved camping and fishing with his family and continued to hunt. On October 8, 1962 he married the mother of his children Ardythe “Ardy” Schmitz in Watson at the Sacred Heart Parish. Together they had four children. While working for the CN the family moved to a few communities then finally settled in Prince Albert. Due to failing health, Joe had to move to Strasbourg for extended care and then to Lanigan. Joe was a very spiritual man who shared his thoughts regarding Jesus and spirituality with his caregivers. He loved to visit and very much appreciated the visits he had with his family and friends. Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his 4 children, 11 grandchildren and one great grandson:  DARYL (Cherie) Faul of Prince Albert and family Shane, Nicolas and Sarah; SANDY (Ken) Kolla of Saskatoon and family Samatha (Shawn) Kozey of Saskatoon, Charlene Hubel (Brandon Eifler) of Calgary and Tyler Kolla of Saskatoon; BOB (Sharon) Faul and family Sharla (Josh) Spicer and son Caleb all of Prince Albert, and Keegan Faul of Choiceland, SK; and ERIC (Jay-Lynn) Faul of Calgary and family Colby, Jenna and Alissa; mother of his children Ardy Faul of Saskatoon; two brothers and one sister: Ken (Loreen) Faul of Cudworth, Murray (Eileen) Faul of Parksville, BC and Carol Hergott (Art Vander-Eykel) of Abbotsford, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A Celebration of Joe’s life was held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home Hwy 5 East in Humboldt. Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery Humboldt by his parents.  Memorial donations in Joe’s memory may be directed to Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
