Lori Borstmayer
October 20, 1935 – May 31, 2018

Lori (nee Brinkman) Borstmayer of Humboldt SK. passed away at the Humboldt District Hospital on Thursday, May 31, 2018. She was 82 years of age. Lori was born in Humboldt on October 20, 1935 the youngest of 10 children of Henry and Anna (nee Meyer) Brinkman. She was raised on the family farm 4 miles east of Lake Lenore and attended Solo School which was located on the Brinkman land. On October 9, 1956 Lori married Desmond Borstmayer in Lake Lenore. For the first winter after their marriage Lori and Des worked in Hamilton, Ontario, returning to the Borstmayer farm located on the SE 32-39-19 located 3 miles east of St. James. It was there they raised a family of four, three boys and one girl. In the early years Lori and Des raised livestock, milked cows, and grain farmed. Things were tight but in 1968 they managed to build a new house on the farm, complete with running water and a forced air furnace, a real treat from that of the old house. Lori and Des lived on the farm for 47 years until 2003 when they bought their current house in Humboldt, when there oldest son Tom returned from Australia to take over the family farm. Although Lori did not run the farm equipment she was very involved in the farm, running for parts, fertilizer, seed, running the grain dryer in wet falls and always cooking for the entire family, including Des’s dad, and often a hired man. Lori was a very social person and was always on the go and truly enjoyed getting together with family and friends. She was always a very hard working person who was willing to lend a hand to whoever was in need. Lori will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Desmond, her husband of 61 years, and their children: Thomas (Sandy) Borstmayer of Naicam, and children Jennifer, Travis, Chanessa, Greyson, Travis, Jonathan and great grandson Kai; Darren (Wendy) Borstmayer of Saskatoon, and their children, Tyler, Morgan, and Jordan; Tracy (Kevin) Bedard of St. Brieux, and their children Kaitlyn and Joshua; Mark (Bridget) Borstmayer of Stony Plain, Alberta, and their children Steven, Jacob, Sarah, and Rylan; sisters-in-law: Veronica Brinkman of Middle Lake, Irma Brinkman of Lake Lenore; in-laws: Ralph (Helen) Borstmayer of Dallas, Texas, Gladys Borstmayer of St. Albert, Alberta, Bruce (Chris) Borstmayer of Calgary, Alberta, Rod (Lillian) Borstmayer of Oakville, Ontario, and Jeff Borstmayer of Zenon Park.
