Marie Dobmeier
April 28, 1928 – April 14, 2017

The peaceful death of Marie Dobmeier, 88 years of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, occurred on Friday, April 14, 2017.  Marie was born on April 28, 1928 in Humboldt to Adam and Elizabeth (nee Wourms) Dobmeier.  The family lived in the Marysburg area and then moved to Pilger.  Marie attended school to become a registered nurse.  She joined the Order of St. Elizabeth where she faithfully served for 25 years.  Upon leaving the convent, she continued nursing until she retired at the age of 62.  She nursed at hospitals in Weyburn, Imperial, Lloydminster and Humboldt to name a few.  At many of the hospitals, she served in an administrative position.  She was a natural born caregiver and thoroughly enjoyed her chosen career.  Upon retirement, she lived in Humboldt and for the last four years had been a resident at St. Mary’s Villa.  Marie was very close to her family and spent time daily with her sisters, Sr. Regina and Sr. Philomena.  She enjoyed traveling and spent many hours working on crafts, including crocheting and beadwork.  Marie also loved gardening, growing a bounty of vegetables and    beautiful flowers.  Marie will be lovingly remembered by her six sisters and two brothers:  Sr. Regina Dobmeier, OSE and Loretta Harms, both of Saskatoon, Ray (Maude) Dobmeier of Vancouver, BC, Sr. Philomena Dobmeier, OSE of Saskatoon, Veronica Horacki of Battleford, Sylvester (Loretta) Dobmeier of Lanigan, Margaret (Ivan) Clendeman of Calgary, AB, and Bertha Szautner of Humboldt; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Katie Dobmeier of Humboldt, John Masse of Ontario, and Donna Dobmeier of Osler; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Elizabeth Dobmeier; four brothers and one sister:  Martin Dobmeier, Herman Dobmeier, Frances Masse, Anthony Dobmeier and Andrew Dobmeier; and brothers-in-law:  Pete Harms, Steve Horacki, Ken Szautner and Rose Dobmeier.  The Funeral Mass for Marie was held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu.  Interment followed in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pilger.  Memorial Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation.
