Mona Marie Jasken
February 19, 1943 – October 15, 2018

Mona Marie (nee Ebert) Jasken of Saskatoon, SK, (and formerly of St. Benedict, SK), passed away at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Monday, October 15, 2018. She was 75 years old. Mona was born in St. Benedict, SK, to Ray and Leona (nee Reinhart) Ebert on February 19, 1943. She was the second oldest of seven children. After attending the academy in Bruno, Mona moved to Lake Lenore, SK, to teach piano. That is where she met Arnold Jasken, and they were married on July 28, 1972. They were blessed with five children, three daughters and two sons. In 1979, the family moved to St. Benedict. Mona enjoyed raising the children and teaching piano lessons. Mona was an active part of the Catholic Women’s League and the music ministry at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church. She also enjoyed quilting, visiting, and going for coffee with friends. In 2015, Mona and Arnold moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family where she really enjoyed being able to be a part of her grandchildren’s numerous events. Mona will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Arnold Jasken; five children and 11 grandchildren: Carla (Evan) Shoforost and children, Ethan, Brooke and Jet Shoforost; Scott (Kim) Jasken and children, Sage and Sierra Jasken; Annette (Trent) Bester and her children, Aidan and Trinity Kuckartz and stepson Keldon Bester; John (Danielle) Jasken and children, Daylen and Jayde Jasken; Nancy (Andy) Willems and children, Ryder and Brianna Willems; son-in-law, Luc Kuckartz; three sisters and two brothers: Karen (Ben) Lewans, Roxy (Daryl) Clark, Donna (Ted) Medernach, Doug (Jeanine) Ebert, and Glenn (Colette) Ebert; sister-in-law, Vivian Reeves; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Leona (nee Reinhart) Ebert; and by her brother, Dale Ebert. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Benedict R.C. Church, St. Benedict, on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Others taking part were: Brooke Shoforost, crossbearer; Ethan Shoforost, urnbearer; Ria Cey and Dawn Rodriguez, scripture readers; Aidan Kuckartz, Trinity Kuckartz, Daylen Jasken, Sage Jasken, Jet Shoforost, Sierra Jasken, Jayde Jasken, Ryder Willems and Brianna Willems, intentions; Aidan and Trinity Kuckartz, giftbearers; Carla Shoforost, eulogist; Daylen Jasken and Sage Jasken, memorial table attendants. Music ministry was provided by organist Carmela Brockman and guitarist David Altrogge along with vocalists Charlotte and Nancy Brockman. The memorial urn was made by John Jasken. Interment followed at St. Benedict R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or The St. Benedict Cemetery Fund.
