Irwin Frederick Frey
January 13, 1937 – November 1, 2017

Irwin Frederick Frey 80 years of St. Mary’s Villa passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Humboldt District Hospital. Irwin was born on January 13, 1937 to Oscar and Catherine (nee Ecker) Frey in Humboldt. He obtained all his education in Humboldt. Following his graduation he then moved to Moose Jaw and entered the carpentry course at Saskatchewan Technical Institute. After obtaining his carpentry certificate Irwin moved back to Humboldt. Irwin married Margaret Scott and this union was blessed with five sons. Irwin later moved to Pilot Butte. Together with his brother Allan they started their own construction company “Allan Frey Construction”. They built many homes through out Saskatchewan. Irwin’s hobbies included making coffee tables and other items in the backyard shop. Many of these items were donated to the Senior Center, St. Agnes R.C. Church and for the Knights of Columbus. He was a very devote Catholic and attended mass faithfully and read daily scriptures from the Bible. Upon his retirement from the construction industry Irwin worked part time as a security guard for a correctional center in Regina. He then moved to Muenster and enjoyed renovating his home. Irwin enjoyed quiet time and loved watching movies especially Westerns and Science Fiction. Spending time visiting with his family and playing crib brought him much pleasure. Irwin will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his five sons, 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren: David (Dorothy) Frey of Humboldt and family David Jr. (Gwen) Thiemann of St. Gregor and daughter Lexi, Amber-Lea Frey (Michael Pape) of Clavet, Timothy Frey (Kellie Guan) of Saskatoon, Jordan Frey of Humboldt and Sarah-Ann Frey (Aaron Earis) of Vermillion, AB; Daniel (Glenda) Frey of Humboldt and son Aaron Bach Canevaro of, BC; Donald (Valerie) Frey of Martinsville and family Mathew (Candice) Simon of Republic, MI and children Darceigh and Charleigh and Joshua (Elizabeth) Frey of Cold Lake, AB; Robert (Laura) Frey of Annaheim and family Caleb Frey of Annaheim, Thomas (Destiny Hutchinson) of Humboldt, Steven Frey (Stephanie Beaurivage) of Humboldt and son Ryker and Bennett Frey of Annaheim; James (Helen) Frey and family Gabriel Frey, Angel Frey, Cathy-Rose Frey, and Samantha’s children: Tiana and Jessica all of Muenster; brother Fred (Marlene) and sister-in-law Yvonne Frey all of Regina; numerous nieces and nephews; also by the mother of his children Margaret Kaminski of Humboldt. Irwin was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Catherine Frey; grandchildren Michael Frey and Samantha Bach Struck; sister Dolores (John) Kaminski and brother Allan (Leane) Frey. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations in Irwin’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
