Alice Mary Ramsay (nee Suchan),
January 10, 1926, to August 18, 2018

Alice died at Trinity Manor in Saskatoon, aged 92, after a life full of humour, gentleness and love (and fast driving), six children, 20 grandchildren and 8 (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.

Her hobbies were extensive ─ bridge, cribbage, knitting, painting, gardening, cooking and scratch tickets ─ but her volunteer work sustained her, especially palliative care, Catholic Women’s League (70-year member) and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Woven through her life was her deep and abiding belief in God and in humanity. Whether running St. Mary's Villa or buying a bus ticket for a young hitchhiker or sitting with the dying when friends and family couldn't, Alice lived her faith. In the late ‘90s, she became a Benedictine Oblate.

Alice was named Humboldt's Citizen of the Year in 1985 and, much to her surprise, again in 2005, and received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal in 2005. A Humboldt girl to the end, she saw her one-year stay in Saskatoon as a temporary aberration. She knew she'd go home. And so she has.

She is survived by her children Patricia (Michael); Don (Susan); Doug (Lana); Joan (Wayne); Jim (Melanie), and Laura; her grandchildren and their children. She was predeceased by her husband Don; her parents Joe and Mary Suchan; brothers Ed and Joe, and many, many friends and family. She loved them all.

A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, and funeral at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, both at St. Augustine's Church in Humboldt.

Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery.

Family requests that in lieu of flowers or donations, practice random acts of kindness.
