Neil Poncelet
December 29, 1957 – September 21, 2018

Neil Roman Poncelet went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2018. He was born on December 29, 1957, to John and Evelyn (nee Kramer) Poncelet in Humboldt, SK. Neil spent his entire life on the family farm in the Meacham area. On September 6, 1978, Neil started his 40-year career at the Colonsay Mosaic Potash Mine, where he worked until his illness. As well as working at the mine, Neil farmed with his brother on the original Poncelet homestead. Neil will be lovingly missed and remembered by his brother, Kevin (Elizabeth) Poncelet; sister, Carol (Wayne) Lacey; nieces and nephews: Heather (Adam) Tetzlaff, Kristin Lacey, Lisa (Travis) Tetzlaff, Ian Lacey, Sarah (Arlen) Gerbrandt, Emily (Dalton) Jackson, Janelle Lacey, and Jonathan Lacey; and by seven great-nephews and one great-niece. He was predeceased by his parents, John (1998) and Evelyn (2014); and by his sister Janice (2016). The Prayer Service for Neil was held on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., and the Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. Both services were held at St. Alphonse R.C. Church, Viscount, SK. Interment followed at St. Anthony’s R.C. Cemetery (Saxby), in the Meacham district. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Anthony’s R.C. Cemetery (Saxby) Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
