Ralph Frederick Egger
August 20, 1926 – July 13, 2016

Mr. Ralph Frederick Egger of Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Lake Lenore, SK), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in Regina, SK.  He was 89 years of age.  Ralph was predeceased by his wife Marian (nee Medland) Egger (July 7, 2013); and by his parents, Fred and Evelyn (nee Zenner) Egger.  He is survived by his family:  two step-sons, Dale Birley (Leona) and Scott Birley (Sharon), and their families.  Ralph grew up with a younger deaf sister, Goldean “Goldie” Egger Beattie (deceased), and her families.   Ralph was raised on the farm near Lake Lenore.  It was not long before he realized that he was destined to be a grain farmer, and indeed he was for 43 years.  For his schooling, he attended Residential School for the Deaf in Saskatoon until his graduation in 1944.  Throughout life, Ralph was involved in many different activities and was a long-time member of the Lake Lenore Lions Club.  It has to be noted that Ralph truly appreciated the simplicity and tranquility of the farm life, social gatherings, dances, fall suppers and, especially, the get-together visits with family and close friends.  In Ralph’s younger days, he loved to travel south with his old Lake Lenore buddies for the winter.  After becoming a family man, he and Marian spent most of their lives farming at Lake Lenore, travelling throughout Canada, the West Indies, Hawaii, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as provincial-park-hopping in their trailer all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with Greenwater, SK, being their all-time favourite.  Ralph was an inspiration and touched the lives of many.  As well, he was a very kind, caring man and was always very good to Marian’s sons and their families.  He left us all a legacy of love and compassion – a life well lived on his part.  Above all, Ralph would like to thank his family and everyone else for a wonderful life.  “Many thanks to Abby Buenavista and her staff of Pioneer Village in Regina for the lovely care they gave Dad for the past year.”   As per Ralph’s request, there will not be a Funeral Service.  Memorial donations may be made to Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (SDHHS), #3 – 511 1st. Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1X5.
