Rene Caillon
June 20, 1924 -  May 1, 2016

Rene Caillon of St. Michael’s Haven, Cudworth, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK), passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, SK.  He was 91 years of age.  Rene was born on Friday, June 20, 1924, to Peter and Bertha (nee Lavecque) Caillon  in St. Brieux  SK.  He attended   Miora Lake School after which he farmed in the St. Brieux District  for many years.  Rene retired in 1983 and moved to Humboldt.  His passions were farming, gardening, bowling and, over the years, he curled in many bonspiels.  He enjoyed going for country drives with Elizabeth.   On July 15, 2011, they moved into Caleb Village in Humboldt, and on December 11, 2015 they made a final move into St. Michael’s Haven in Cudworth, SK.  Rene is lovingly remembered by his wife Elizabeth; step-children: Val (Brian) Kuemper, Ron (Sandra) Wright, Dan (Deb) Wright, Cheryl (Harry) Bieringer, Diana (Gary) Schlosser, Trudy (Ron) Synchena, and Kim (Mark) Bunz; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by his first wife Rose Frank; parents, Peter and Bertha (nee Lavecque) Caillon; siblings, Paulette (twin sister), Therese Caillon, (a baby sister in infancy), Octave Caillon, Felix Caillon; and two great-grandchildren.  The Prayer Service for Rene was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 8:00 p.m., led by Marlene VanDresar and organist Val Kuemper.  Scripture readers were Katrina Robinson and Vanessa Hepp.  The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Cosmas Epifano, OSB.  Others taking part were:  Gary Schlosser, cross bearer; Cheryl Bieringer and Kim Bunz, scripture readers; Trudy Synchena, intentions; Harry Bieringer and Trudy Synchena, gift bearers.  Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Rene’s life”.  Active pallbearers were Ron Wright, Dan Wright, Brian Kuemper, Ron Synchena, Marlon Kuemper and Bryce Kuemper.  Interment took place at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan.
