Thomas Haynes
November 27, 1936 – October 2, 2015

Thomas Haynes of Lanigan, SK, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Lanigan Hospital, following a long battle with cancer.  He was of 78 years of age.  Tom was born to James and Mary (nee Gray) Haynes on November 27, 1936 in Ituna, SK, and grew up in the Ituna area where he also attended school.  At a very young age, he joined the Air Force where he spent a short period of time.  From there he went on to work on the oil rigs and in the mining industry.  Tom also drove the taxi and was a volunteer school bus driver in Lanigan until retiring in 1992, when he took up doing handyman work in the area.  Tom married Margaret Buckell on November 16, 1957, at Bredenbury, SK.  They were together for 58 years and raised a family of three children.  Tom and Margaret enjoyed travelling in Canada and the United States while his health permitted.  He was always a happy-go-lucky man, had a good sense of humor, and was always joking and teasing.  Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Margaret (nee Buckell) Haynes of Lanigan; three children: Laverne (Linda) Haynes of Edmonton, AB; Pam (Larry) Caron of Drake, SK; and Darrell Haynes of Calgary, AB; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters: Clara Foresberg, Isabel Zborowiski, and Marie (Reno) Pacileo; brother, Donald Haynes; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary (nee Gray) Haynes; and by four sisters and two brothers:  Mary Reigler, James Haynes, Jessie Palmeire, Ann Busch, David Haynes, and Jean Haynes.  The Funeral Service for Thomas was held at Knox United Church, Lanigan, on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Jeanette Warrian.  Music ministry was provided by Gudrun Blackport.   Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Tom’s life”.  Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK, at a later date.  Memorial donations may be directed to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Knox United Church Memorial Fund.
