TOO SOON MONSOON: Canadian pop duo, Too Soon Monsoon, is building momentum toward their first full-length album release. With nods to influences like Fleetwood Mac and The White Stripes, the duo creates a fresh sound by fusing elements of rock, pop, and r&b. Since forming at the end of 2016 after Greg (keys and vocals) had posted a 'bandmate wanted' ad online to which Nathan (drums)was quick to respond, TSM continues to make waves in the Sea of Canadian Music. The Saskatoon-based duo released two EPs in the second half of 2017 (Little Fire - July 7, 2017, & Side Effects - Oct20, 2017), performed at the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival 2018, Ness Creek Music Festival2017 & Winterruption 2018 and opened for PVRIS, Mo Kenney, and ROMES. The duo embarked on their first Western Canadian tour in the fall of 2017, after opening for Wide Mouth Mason at a hometown show at O'Brians Event Centre. The band is in the middle of recording their debut full-length album (slated for a spring 2019release) once again with producer, Adam Grant. TSM previously worked closely with Grant on the recording of their first two EPs. Side Effects was included in the best EPs of 2017 by Cups n Cakes(#8) and spent four weeks in the CFCR Weekly Top Ten (peak #4). The band released visuals for"Know Myself" and "Faded" from Side Effects as well as visuals for "Balance", "We'll Live Forever",and "Wandering" from Little Fire. TSM has performed twice on CTV Morning Live and filmed performances for the Original 16 Brewery Sessions and the Empty Room Series. Two new singles, "Ocean" and "Mountains of Blue" will be released in September while the band tours Western Canada prior to showcasing at BreakOut West in October 2018. Too Soon Monsoon’s debut full-length record is a concept album that carries the listener on an emotional journey along with the band while speaking to universal themes like interconnectedness, growing up, love, seeking purpose and slowing down to appreciate and reconnect with yourself, one another, nature, art and spirit. Being a two-piece band that consists of an Indigenous drummer and a non-Indigenous singer/keyboardist, TSM’s goal is to create music and art that can bring people from different cultures and backgrounds closer together.
Influences: Fleetwood Mac, Jack White, White Stripes, Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, Fiona Apple, Justin Timberlake, Beach Boys, Arcade Fire, Emily Haines, Metric, Feist, The Killers.
