Meghan Bowman was born and raised in the heart of Saskatchewan and
performed for the first time when she was five years old. Her mother taught her
how to play the piano and sing. Then Meghan decided to expand her instrument
repertoire by adding the guitar, drums and cello in later years.
When Meghan was eleven, her best friend was diagnosed with cancer and
passed away a few years later. Meghan began writing music around this time of
her life. She found it difficult to express what she was feeling in words, so often
she would sit down at a piano and ‘play’ how she was feeling. Music got Meghan
through this difficult time of her life, which sparked her interest in music therapy.
Meghan is currently finishing her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree in pursuit of
becoming an accredited Music Therapist.
Meghan released her first professional studio album in 2011, with the support of
Rawlco Radio’s 10K20 grant program. Her latest release, The Watchmen, is
another work involving therapeutic elements. Meghan wrote the songs on The
Watchmen about an assault she experienced. Production of this album was
made possible by Creative Saskatchewan.
