In a month filled with Baseball Canada tournaments across the country, the 15U boys from Saskatchewan nearly had a perfect weekend.

In the 15U Boys Ray Carter Cup Championships held in Oshawa, Ontario over the weekend, Team Sask completed a stellar round robin, going 5-0 while outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 51-10.

The boys would receive a bye into the semi-finals courtesy of their round-robin performance and the hot play would continue as they blanked Team B.C. 10-0 to head to the championship game to face Team Ontario.

Team Ontario fought off the host team Oshawa, winning 3-1 in the semi-finals, after finishing the round-robin matchups with a record of 3-1.

The Championship game was as close as it gets, with both teams tied at one apiece after the 7th and final frame, forcing extra innings. In the 8th inning, Team Saskatchewan was able to score a run and take the lead, but it was in the bottom of the 8th where Ontario would win the game with a walk-off run, scoring two in the extra inning and winning the gold medal game 3-2.

Kyle Froehlich of the Muenster Red Sox baseball team and one of the starting infielders and pitchers for Team Saskatchewan, finished with a strong performance at the plate, batting 9 for 22 with 3RBI's, 8 Runs and a .406 batting average. He was also lights out on the mound. Froehlich pitched in 11 innings total over the course of the tournament allowing zero runs and only three hits, while striking out 23 batters.
