The AA Midget Humboldt Broncos will begin their quest for a third straight Centre Four Hockey League title Tuesday night.

They reigning CFHL and provincial champions finished the regular season in third place which translates into a first round match-up against the Prince Albert Chill.

Head Coach Chris Hamilton said they like where they are at following a competitive 28 game regular season.

"The league is really competitive this year, actually we had the best record this year over the last three seasons and we ended up finishing third which is the worst we've finished in the last three years. The league is even, we finished exactly where we wanted which is the top four and we're happy to be there."

The top four clubs, the Broncos, the Warman Wildcats, Saskatoon Riverkings and Unity Lazers all received first round byes.

Humboldt's record of 21-7 left them in third but down the stretch they have picked up the pace, they went 12-3 in their last 15 contests.

"The last four or five games we've been playing pretty good," Hamilton added. "That's what you want is to be peaking at the playoffs and we're heading in the right direction."

Game one of the best of three series is slated for 7:30 at the Elgar Petersen Arena. Any students who bring noise makers receive free admission.

Game two is Thursday back in PA, if necessary game three will be at 6:30 on Sunday at the EPA.
